I love two things in particular about this poem – ‘silvered brass’ is just SO right as an idea – the precious with the nonprecious – and also the rhythm of that last line – ‘bold as silvered brass’ – that combination of sounds is brilliant. I do hope the white cat becomes bold enough to venture out and make friends!!

Definitely a silvered cat. A frequent visitor, but still at the “polite exchanging of stares” stage.
